 Plot

Note: Every world should be thought of in their original status. FFVII is in the beginning of Crisis Core. FFX takes place as Tidus washes up on Besaid.

Originating from Gaia, the world of Final Fantasy VII.

It has been years that Shin-Ra has been sucking the Mako out of the Planet greedily, thoughtlessly. They use their money and militaristic power to force every civilization on Gaia to convert to their Mako energy source, also promising jobs to those interested in running the Mako Reactors.

But now, the company must face repercussions. From within the Mako-depleted lands surrounding Midgar bubbles the army of fierce creatures of darkness. It first began as an unusually thick fog covering the wastelands, preventing travel to and from Midgar. Those that dared to travel through the fog never returned. Those that stood guard outside of Midgar claimed hearing blood-curdling screams from within that dense mist, however.

It then escalated to seeing flashing yellow lights coming from the very edge of the mist. There was even an occasion when one might see a shadow, a deep black creature leap out from within, only to retreat. The people who reported this were deemed crazy by Shin-Ra, who immediately silenced all rumors. Despite doing this, it was only a few days later that they dispatched troops of soldiers to block off all travel through the wastelands. Unfortunately, they couldn't make it through the mist long enough to be able to block off travel into Midgar.

One day, the mist became so thick with death that communications outside of Midgar died. Their phones no longer worked, cell phones lost their signals, internet could not connect. It was now that the people of Midgar were beginning to panic, questioning just how much Shin-Ra could protect them. But from the soothing, reassuring words of President Shinra, most people were quieted down when he blamed it on awkward weather patterns. He told them he was going to find someone to locate the problem immediately. The brainwashed peoples of Midgar settled down for the most part, and stayed in their homes as instructed unless they needed food or something important.

Shin-Ra was now becoming quite serious about this problem. SOLDIERs were dispatched to find the issue in the fog, and helicopters were launched to make connections with Junon. Unfortunately, every helicopter mysteriously disappeared within the mist surrounding the city.

Midgar has become a city of isolation, and only time will tell the outcome. Or, in the case of Professor Hojo, only science will tell.

Meanwhile, in other areas of the world, streaks of purple-pink lights can be seen during the night in the sky. First discovered at the peaks of Cosmo Canyon, they sent word out that eventually reached Junon. Under order of theVice President, Rufus Shinra, Palmer has been given permission to launch his Space Exploration plan to figure out just what these paths of light are.

They are the other worlds, unsuspecting of their future infiltration...

There's a bit more to explain in depth about the plot. It refers to both worlds rather than just Gaia in the general plot.

These monsters do spawn first in Gaia, so yes the plot does kind of revolve around it. Once the plot gets rolling, however, all the worlds will be involved. That said... The creatures of darkness spoken of in the plot were born from the Lifestream as an alarm, kind of like the WEAPONs. They're like a physical manifestation of Jenova cells/Jenova's will. (For those not savvy with FFVII, the Lifestream is like the life force of the planet. Everyone's made of Lifestream and when they die they return to the Lifestream. Jenova is an evil being that lived hundreds of thousands of years ago and is currently living in the Lifestream, tainting everything.)

Now to address the Lifestream issue. I know that FFX did not speak of any Lifestream, but they have something similar. Spira's Lifestream is comparable to the Farplane.

So each world has their Lifestream-like source. But only Gaia has tried to use the Lifestream as a power source, and as such they're the only ones with the problem. However, the problem will spread once they begin to travel in space to the other worlds.

A big point I want to make now, one of the reasons why I made this thread... Hiroshi made a request that got me thinking. What if these creatures could possess people? This happens by getting a deep scratch or bite from one of the underlings. Note that it needs to be deep, not like a minor scrape of their claw or teeth. The substance they are made of being injected into someone may also possess and transform them.

If someone is fully possessed, they will fully transform into another one of the underling creatures. If they've maintained their control and sanity just enough, they may only partially transform. Someone who has maintained most or all of their control will transform only a little or they might just have special abilities like a SOLDIER would have.

That's all for now! <3
